EXPERIENCE Community Radio Activist: I have been involved with community radio since 1970 serving as the founding manager of KAXE (Northern Community Radio, Grand Rapids MN the first rural community station in the US) attending the founding meeting of the National Federation of Community Broadcasters and serving on NFCB's Board of Directors. My resume shows paid and volunteer experience with community radio. In October 2007 I participated in the NED/CIMA roundtable on Community Radio in Washington DC and followed that with the AMARC Africa-MENA Conference in Rabat, Morocco later in the same month. In 2007 I worked briefly with Ammannet Radio in Jordan and numerous local stations in Kosovo. Currently I am working with the Egypt Media Development Program on a contract with IREX (The International Research and Exchanges Board) to develop a local radio station at the Alexandria Library in Egypt. Current position: Co-Owner: Chinook Concert Broadcasters. Responsible for strategic planning and operational details for KLEF, a commercial classical FM, and KUDO, a News-Talk AM. Set up new automation system, maintain daily traffic and accounting systems, developed community relations for KUDO. Management: Senior Media Consultant: International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX) (October, 1999 – June, 2001), Podgorica, Montenegro and Belgrade, Serbia (also Prishtina, Kosovo June, 1999 through July, 2000). Responsible for implementation of specific aspects of the ProMedia II project including training, grants, website development, and legal and association work. Training Coordinator and Regional Trainer: International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX), Bratislava, Slovakia (September 1997- September, 1999). Design and oversee training activities in the Slovak ProMedia workplan, conduct journalism and media management training for the broadcast industry. Sitkans Against Family Violence, Sitka, AK: Executive Director (1986 – 1989) Board of Directors (1991 – 1993) Secretary (1992 – 1993) Supervisory and education activities for this domestic violence and rape shelter and preventive education program. The Sitka Historical Society: Curator and Staff Director of the Isabel Miller Museum (1981-1985) Researcher (October, 1992 – September 1993 and March 1994 – September 1995). Responsible for museum, education program, museum store and promotional activities for both museum and historical program. Presented the paper "Alaska Pirates, The Story of Military Broadcasting in Alaska and the Advent of the Armed Forces Radio Service" to the Alaska Historical Society. The paper is on the founding of Armed Forces Radio in Sitka and Kodiak Alaska during the Second World War. Sitka Historical Society Russian Committee: (1991-1995) This started with an experience in cross-cultural organization in Alaska and Vladivostok (2 visits) with the multi-site celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the Bering-Cherikov Expedition and expanded to hosting an assortment of Russian sailors and scientists who arrived in Sitka. (Washington, DC) working on reorganizing their financial structure and commercial time distribution.
