CURRENT ACTIVITIES: 

International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX), April 1996-present. I have been involved as a consultant to or employee of IREX for the past decade.  Currently I am Chief of Party for the Serbian Media Assistance Program in Belgrade, Serbia.  I am leading the team implementing a USAID funded program that is strengthening local media and helping to improve the legal environment for independent media in Serbia.  Past work for IREX has included:

• Consultant on projects for the Egypt Media Development Program (radio station construction and curriculum development),
• Armenia radio network development consultation.
• Consultant and trainer for IREX media programs in Kosovo, primarily working in radio.
• Consultant to Middle East Partnership Initiative Project on research for Morocco and Bahrain and broadcast equipment for Lebanon.
• Consultant and Trainer for the Georgia Media Development Program in 2003 and 2005.
• Senior Media Advisor Jan 2003-May 2006.  Southeastern Europe regional media development program including overseeing projects in broadcast production, legal development and investigative reporting (half time).
• Consultant for the Montenegro Media Development Program, June 2001-June 2004
• Chief of Party, Serbia (Based in Belgrade) Oct. 2000-June 2001:  Led the team that re-established the media development program in Belgrade following the defeat of Milosevic.
• Chief of Party, Yugoslavia (Based in Podgorica, Montenegro and Budapest, Hungary) Oct. 1999- Oct. 2000:  Planned and supervised ProMedia programs for Serbia, Montenegro and Kosovo. Member of the USAID Democracy and Governance Team that advised on the elections that removed Milosevic from office.
• Resident Advisor in Bratislava, Slovakia, and Regional Trainer in Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Bulgaria and Croatia, Sept. 1997- Sept 1999; Coordinated ProMedia, Slovakia, including legal analysis, aid to journalists, internships, research and training.
• Regional Trainer, Mar.-Sept. 1997: (Czech Republic, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro and Bulgaria.)
• Resident Advisor in Tirana, Albania, April 1996-March 1997; Coordinated ProMedia, Albania.  This included individual consultation with radio stations and newspapers, workshops in media management, reporting and broadcasting.

Chinook Concert Broadcasters, Anchorage, October 1987-Present, Board of Directors and co-owner. Chinook Concert Broadcasters owns KLEF in Anchorage, a classical music station. (Chinook also ran KUDO, a news talk station, until April, 2008, I managed KUDO from Sept 2004 to March 2006).
