Harbor Mountain Road takes you to an old World War II site that was an observation cite for coast artillery. A local legend says that it was a super secret site where radar testing took place. No matter what, it has a grand view of both the passages and the open sea.
The Forest Service maintains Harbor Mountain Road, which has recently re-opened after having been closed for some time because of some slides. The view from the road is better than ever because there are more clear vistas. It's nice to have our picnic area back. These photos were taken on the day of the summer solstice. In the past we have enjoyed solstice bonfires on top of Harbor Mountain but this year it is too dry and the Forest Service asked us to defer.
